Frequently Asked Questions for Operation ID.

Do I need a referral?

Yes. Operation ID is a referral-based program with over 60 local referring partners.

If I show up during open hours, will I be seen?

Unfortunately, we cannot accept walk-in clients at this time. To serve each client thoroughly, we use an appointment-based system for Operation ID services on Tuesdays & Thursdays each week.

What Do I Need To Bring To My Appointment?

During the confirmation of your appointment date and time, our staff will advise you of what is needed for your appointment, based on your requested services and available paperwork.

I lost my ID and am trying to get a replacement, can you help me?

Yes, but we require a referral from a partner agency in the Houston area, as well as an appointment for Operation ID assistance. You can try this resource, if you only need a replacement card at this time: Click Here.

Will I get arrested at DPS if I have a warrant?

If you have an open warrant with the Texas Department of Public Safety, police or local law enforcement could arrest you at a DPS (Texas Department of Public Safety) office.

Will you help me if I was born out of state?

We can provide ID assistance for all 50 states and U.S. Territories. Other provinces/countries may be eligible for assistance, but those are on a case-by-case basis.

Is Operation ID the same as the DPS?

No, Operation ID is a program of Main Street Ministries, a small Non-Profit Organization. Texas Department of Public safety (DPS) is a state agency & is the only source that issues TX ID, DL & CDL.

I don't have a case manager and I'm not receiving services anywhere. What do I do?

The Way Home, a program of The Beacon, provides an entry point for services.
